On Friday, April 11 students in all levels of Spanish were priviledged to see music and dance of Spain, as presented by Ole! A group of 4 dancers and two musicians set out from Kansas City and made it though a spring storm to perform for us. The lead dancer, Tamara, talked about Spain, the country, its cities, history, foods, as well as demonstrated some of the elements of flamenco. The audience participated in "palmas" (clapping) and students volunteered to go on stage for some partner dancing. The excellent guitarist played a solo, and the vocalist sang in both English and Spanish.
That evening the group performed for almost two hours as part of the Alliance Arts Council Series. We are very grateful to the Arts Council for this fabulous experience.
