Emerson-Grandview After School Grant Program

The Nebraska Department of Education is pleased to announce Emerson and Grandview Elementary Schools are the recipients of the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant in the amount of $118,000. The program name is After School Alliance.

The program will be funded at this amount for three years. Year four grant will be funded at 80% and year five is funded at 60%.

These community learning centers enhance student achievement and help students meet state standards in reading, mathematics, science and social studies. The centers offer a variety of services including remedial education, academic enrichment, tutoring, mentoring, programs for students learning English for the first time as well as programs addressing technology, family involvement, family literacy, counseling and drug and violence prevention.

The primary goals of the after-school program offered through 21st Century Community Learning Centers are to improve student learning, increase social benefits and positive behavioral changes, and increase family and community involvement in schools.

The after-school program will begin at 3:15 p.m. and end at 6:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The program will begin in the month of September. There is no cost to the parents.
