ASPN Presents History Hoops

(Alliance Sports Programming Network)

Alan Van Tilburg

January 31, 2006

A special installment of History Hoops was presided over by the elusive though hugely famous Vanilla VT. Hey! Ho!

Vanilla stopped by to hold court with ESPN's rendition of Jock Jams playing in the background as 8th grade students answered historical questions regarding the Mormon Trail, The California Gold Rush, Brigham Young, discovery of the west and the lifestyle of mountain men and trappers.

It was a classic match-up of Boys vs. Girls with the boys winning on a three-point buzzer beater-beater by James French. This was the second time this school year during 7th period that the boys won on a last second three-pointer. Michael Peltz did it to the girls a couple of months ago.

"I will say that my attire today has been at the very least, a topic of conversation among the 8th grade students. But, that's OK," said Mr. Van Tilburg who has been at AMS for 4 years. "If things like this help me as a teacher better connect with my students, I'll dress up like this when the occasion fits and we'll all have some fun."

With "March Madness" coming soon, MR VT said there could be an appearance from an NCAA referee at another day's worth of History Hoops.
