2.100 Student Dress
All students are expected to dress
and groom themselves neatly in clothes that are suitable for school. School
personnel reserve the right to determine if an individual studentís clothing
is appropriate for school.
It is evident that sloppy and other inappropriate dress detracts from the learning environment which schools work hard to develop and maintain. Clothing must be appropriate for school and should foster learning.
In keeping with these concerns the following guideline have been established:
1. Attire should not have vulgar
or detracting language or pictures. No. alcohol, drug, or tobacco advertising;
2. tank tops, halter tops, spaghetti
strap tops alone, are not appropriate;
3. bare midriffs are not appropriate;
4. torn clothing is not appropriate;
5. short shorts, bicycling shorts
and boxer shorts are never appropriate;
6. all clothing should be worn as
designed to be worn;
7. hats may not be worn in buildings;
8. any clothing that is symbolic
of gang membership is not appropriate;
9. any clothing that creates a disturbance
is not appropriate;
10. shoes are required at all times;
11. wearing of chains is prohibited;
12. dresses with spaghetti straps
must only be worn in combination with a capped sleeve shirt;
13. all pants must fit around the
waist. A belt of appropriate length may be worn to ensure the pant fits
appropriately. Sagging pants are not appropriate.
Students who choose to wear inappropriate clothing will be required to change clothes and/or wear a belt or tuck in the shirt. Any time missed from school by having to leave to change clothes will be considered an unexcused absence, and the time missed will be made up in ISS.
